About the Summit

The International Takaful Summit has served as a leading global platform for shaping the evolution, challenges, and opportunities of the Takaful and Retakaful industry since its founding in 2006. Over nearly two decades, it has brought together the sharpest minds in Islamic finance, insurance regulation, and ethical risk-sharing to advance an industry of profound global significance.

ITS 2026 — London

The Fourteenth International Takaful Summit returns to London in July 2026 after an extended pause following the global pandemic, with a renewed mission: to redefine ethical risk-sharing in a world transformed by digital innovation, climate pressures, and shifting financial architectures.

London is no accident of venue. As home to one of the world’s most sophisticated insurance markets, it provides the ideal backdrop for conversations about the future of Takaful at a global scale — where tradition meets innovation, and where the principles of mutual solidarity are being reimagined for the 21st century.

Who We Are

The Summit is organised by the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI) in partnership with World Of Takaful, a group of Takaful industry professionals. Together, they have convened successive iterations of this gathering to create a space where executives, scholars, regulators, and innovators can engage with the most pressing questions facing the industry — free from commercial distraction and grounded in shared values.

The IIBI has been at the forefront of Islamic banking and insurance education, research, and advocacy in the United Kingdom for decades, making it uniquely placed to host an event of this ambition and reach.

What We Stand For

The International Takaful Summit exists because Takaful is more than a product — it is a principle. Rooted in the Islamic concepts of mutual assistance (ta‘awun) and shared responsibility, Takaful offers an ethically grounded alternative to conventional insurance that resonates with hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

We believe the Takaful industry has both the obligation and the opportunity to lead on some of the most important questions of our time:

  • Financial inclusion and access to meaningful protection
  • Climate resilience and ESG integration
  • Ethical governance and Sharia compliance
  • Responsible adoption of AI and digital technology

The Summit is the space where that leadership is forged.

ITS 2026 — The Agenda Highlights

Over two high-impact days, global leaders, regulators, and innovators will explore:

  • The rise of Lloyd’s Takaful syndicates and their potential to unlock global Takaful growth
  • The role of AI and digitalisation in underwriting, claims, and customer trust
  • The structural forces driving Takaful adoption across the GCC, Southeast Asia, and beyond
  • The future of inclusive protection: Microtakaful, micro-pensions, and Social Waqf
  • Climate-resilient financial models and ESG integration in Takaful ratings
  • Islamic Finance in Pakistan: a system in transition toward full Sharia compliance by 2030
  • Asset management for Takaful funds — the litmus test of Takaful authenticity

At the heart of ITS 2026 is a central question the industry must confront: if Takaful offers a genuinely superior model of ethical risk-sharing, what is holding back wider adoption — and how do we remove those barriers together?

A Global Community

The International Takaful Summit draws delegates from across the GCC, Southeast Asia, Africa, South Asia, Canada, and the broader London Market — reflecting the truly global nature of the Takaful industry and its expanding footprint. Whether you are an established operator, a regulator shaping policy, a technology innovator, or a scholar ensuring Shariah compliance, this is your Summit.
